Grower Wedding

This past weekend Jordie and I hit the road to Winnipeg for one of my best friend's weddings. What a wonderful time from the minute we hit the road. First road trip since being parents that we didn't have children in tow! Thank you Grampa for babysitting for us. A trip that usually takes us 10 hours with the kids was 8 1/2. ( of course we didn't have any flat tires this time so that helps) We stayed a new very inexpensive Motel 6...and it was all decked out like we were at a Mexican resort. Anyways the first night in Winnipeg was the rehearsal which was very fun yet emotional. The Minister was wonderful and had everyone at ease right away. The church was absolutely beautiful ...a very old Anglican Church with all the amazing stained glass windows. My date for the wedding was Tony...he was such a gentleman always helping me down the stairs and opening doors! I loved it ...felt like a princess. Following the rehearsal was a meal at the East Indian Company. Jordie and I were skeptical being that neither one of us are very adventurous in the food department. One of the groomsman's parents own the restaurant and they have been friends since they were little. Well since curry isn't one of our fav spices we didn't do so swell with the buffet. Needless to say we hit hooters on the way home from the event. It was a fun evening socializing with the rest of the wedding party getting to know them better. Friday was spa day....SO FUN! Best pedicure I have ever had in my whole life...even had bags with hot wax put on my feet. I felt like I died and gone to heaven. Then there was the massage ...oh boy oh boy ...my feet and legs. Although did you know your feet are somehow connected to your uterus so she was unable to give me a deep massage ...later in pregnancy it could actually send you into early labour! I said I'd be back if baby Carrier decided to take their sweet time entering the world! lol After the spa ...Heather (the bride) and I had a sleepover at her place. She had a french manicure done so I had to wash and blow dry her hair for her. Good times with lots of giggles. We were pretty good and went to bed at 11 but neither one of us fell asleep till after midnight. Then we were up at 6:30ish to get ready to start the big day. First up was hair....then back to the house for make-up (loved this part). I got to try fake eye lashes for the first time...felt like a movie star. Heather looked like a movie star ..absolutely stunning! Then we put on our dresses...some of us "squeezed" into our dresses. I am not too sure what happened from Tuesday to Saturday but one of us grew! Not mentioning any names....ok it was me. I didn't think the darn dress was going to do up. My goodness thankfully her mom was able to squeeze me into it and I thank the Lord for the creation of spanx. If you don't know what spanx are I don't think you are on my friend list anymore. he he. The wedding was absolutely beautiful ...no snags ...it was perfect ...could have been on the wedding show. The look on the grooms face when he saw his bride will forever been in my head. Definitely a top moment in my life. He was glowing! After the ceremony we went out for pictures ...it was a long afternoon but it will be well worth it when we get to see the beautiful photos. The reception followed at the Breezy Ben golf course. So absolutely PERFECT out there...everything from the chocolate brown bows on the chairs to the leaf cookies with everyone's name on them. I made it through my speech without crying ...although I did break into giggles a few times. I am so happy for Heather and Paul that they have found eachother. Their wedding was a perfect start to a wonderful marriage that lies ahead. I love going to weddings and especially being in them ...I feel like I am renewing my vows all over again. LOVE-there is no greater thing. XO
