My LiL Mason man is such a trooper. For those of you who don't know he was born with a severely clubbed left foot. It was turned completely inward when he was born. Apparently a very common birth defect that is due to a spacial thing in the womb. Anyways through casting for 14 weeks followed by boots and bars for 24/7 for three months and with us wearing the boots on him now at night time it has been corrected. Praise the Lord! He was a late crawler and walker due to his little condition and probably the fact that we seldom put him down but now he runs and climbs everywhere. We just had our 6 month review appointment and last time we were there we didn't have such a positive experience. After waiting over 2 hours to get in to see the specialist and missing naptime ...Mason would have nothing to do with her and she was not able to flex his foot. She promptly told me that I better be wearing those boots n bars and that she will see me in the summer and if it wasn't any better "she was slapping a cast on it". Needless to say I was super upset thinking we always wear our boots and bars and do our stretches everyday. Plus see the physiotherapist regularly. Since I was scared of him getting a cast I chickened out and we didn't go in the summer. I thought a cast anytime would be awful but especially awful in the summer he wouldn't be able to swim or anything. Well we sucked it up and went today we have been praying and praying that everything would go well and it did. From the moment we got to the appointment 1) we were able to get parking ...yippee if anyone knows the Royal University Hospital you know this is a feat in itself 2) Our appointment was 1:15 and we were in a room by 1:20 ....another amazing feat! 3) The Dr. was in great spirits and said his foot looked wonderful and said we must be doing all the right things. Well I wasn't going to argue but I don't feel we are doing anything different from before. She said I will see you in six months! I grabbed our things and scooted out quick in case she changed her mind! lol I am so happy for my little man he has sure came a long way from that Tiny 4lb 11oz baby on oxygen with the crooked little foot to the big boy he is today! Love you Mason!
