Well 7 years ago today I married my Jordie. Or shall I say Mr. Jordan Scott Carrier! He really doesn't like that I call him Jordie in public. lol As I reflect back on that very special day I just wish I could do it all over again as it was so much fun! So much fun being a princess for the day...I remember not ever wanting to take off my dress. I put it on as early as I could in the afternoon and I didn't take it off till 3 a.m. After Jordan took out the 500 bobby pins from my hair! I remember dancing my pants off the whole night ...sweating like crazy because apparently the air conditioning was not working in the banquet hall. (I just thought it was me being over heated in my big dress) and I remember eating the best darn turkey dinner and meatballs I have ever had! lol Yes trust me to remember the food....oh and the cake....fancy fondant cakes were really getting popular but no one in Dryden made them so our wonderful friend Charles Heide brought our beautiful 5 tiered present cake all the way from Winnipeg. Still to this day I am so thankful. I had seen the cake during the big wedding show in Winnipeg and had to have it! The Church was so perfect ...the music was beautiful ...and our pastor was very down to earth and funny. Thankfully he was patient with me as I could only sputter out 3 words of my vows at a time in between tears. Jordie was pulling off full sentences..show off! lol At one point he tried to pass me a tissue ..right when I was suppose to say "I promise to be faithful" instead I said "no" well the whole church burst into laughter as did I when I realized what I had done. I did have a few bridezilla moments as they call them ... from the caterers using water spotted mis-matched wine glasses to the wrinkly linen's and putting out steak knives for turkey! I am pretty sure my exact words were ..if we need steak knives for your turkey we don't want it! Eeeeek probably not the nicest thing to say to some hard working people. But the glasses were changed and so were the knives...not sure they did anything about the linens but it didn't matter by then anyways. lol Then in the wee hours of the morning the night before the wedding ...I decided we should iron my veil (for the hundredth time) my three tier special veil that came from China...yup the iron was too hot and it burned a hole in. Well you would have thought I was shot ...I fell to the floor squealing like a dying animal (so I was told after ...I have somewhat blocked this horrific memory from my brain) I do remember having a hard time breathing and crying really really hard. A number of ideas were thrown around as to what we could do. (Oh I guess I should clarify ...me and my 4 bridesmaids sleptover at the hotel the night before the big day) None of the ideas were sounding very good to me except one.....Heather go get your MOM! She was staying in the hotel as well....thank goodness! Blessed News!!! She is a seamstress and a MOM she can fix anything! She took off the satin trim and trimmed the veil around and hand sewed the satin back on! You couldn't tell unless you were really looking. Thankfully it was the shortest tier so it was just made about an inch shorter! Ahhhh all was well again so we went to bed to get our 2 hours sleep before our beauty appointments started! Next little mishap...I had lost a pearl from my earing...no one would tell me though. After the veil they didn't want to upset me ..but everyone was looking really awkward and finally spilled the beans. I didn't panic as bad this time but another Mom came to the rescue...this time Shauntelle's Mom. While we were getting our hair done she went to the jewellery store next door and bought a pearl stud she cut off the post and glued the pearl back into the earing! Phewie!!! Life saver!!! As traumatic as these events seemed to be at the time they sure make me giggle now. People did say that they would but I didn't believe them. They said these are the memories that will last forever. The whole day was full of magical blessed memories too! One of my most special memories besides the actual act of marrying the man of dreams ....was my dance with my Grampa. He requested Anne Murray's "Can I have this Dance" and boy can my Poppa dance. Thank goodness I had a long dress so people couldn't see my feet shuffling around. I will treasure that moment for always. I am so thankful my Poppa got to be part of my special day. I have a good cry everytime I hear that song. I miss my Poppa everyday, I like to think he had a huge part in my upbringing and making me the girl I am today! Anyways as always I digress.... back to the wedding. I wouldn't change a thing. My two best friends from childhood Kaileigh Felske and Shauntelle Pihulak along with my best friend from highschool Heather Kirkpatrick and my best friend from College Jody Quesnel as well as little Riley Pihulak as my flower girl all stood by my side. I couldn't have picked a better team of gals to support me on this big day. They were wonderful from start to finish and still to this day they are 4 ladies I could call on for anything. To celebrate this anniversary we had a very yummy brunch at Ricky's and then took the children to bowl! We all had a great time and then came home to BBQ burgers and play outside! I can't believe how our lives have changed over the last 7 years. 7 years ago we were living in Winnipeg thinking we would be there forever and ever. Then 5 years ago Jordan was offered his own Sport Chek store in Prince Albert and we took a leap of faith and moved. Thinking we would just put in our two years and then transfer back when another store opened up. Little did we know at the 2 year mark he would be recruited away by Rawlco Radio and I got a job in the little "farming community called Birch Hills" and then we would move to Birch Hills adopt two beautiful boys and finally who would have ever thought I would be pregnant! Wow that is a lot in 7 years! So glad I have had my Jordie through all the ups and downs! I wouldn't want any other man to share this roller coaster life with. I thank the Lord everyday for him. Jordan is a wonderful husband and I love watching him be a Daddy! I look forward to the next 60+ years! Yes I am hopeful for that many more years! :-) OK I think I have rambled enough for one night!
